Moving to Ghost
Hasta la vista, Substack, y chinga la maldita migra
I was going to try for a clever title about ghosting, but the barometric pressure has other plans for my brain power (not to mention how doppio depresso machiatto I am knowing people are being disappeared off the fucking street, stolen from churches, and kidnapped from their places of work), so I’m keeping this simple:
Substack keeps showing its whole ass, platforming Nazis and generally doing unethical shit, while other alternatives are leaning hard into training LLMs on writers’ blog entries and pushing “AI tools” that are cooking the planet. Ghost seems the least evil newsletter option for the technologically-disinclined. So even though I’ve got some real decision fatigue around trying to find and support the lesser evil, this is one decision I’m pushing through the brain static to execute on so I feel marginally less like a monster. (Who knows, maybe the guilt-related writer’s block will also dissipate and I’ll post any of the multiple pieces I’ve been picking at for weeks on end.)
Anywho, this is your notice that I’m working on the migration this week, so if you see something about that in your inbox, don’t be surprised I guess?
Lots of love (and salt for all the i.c.e. on the roads),
